Kingsday in Amsterdam

What could be better than going to a city renowned for partying to join one of their biggest and most colourful parties of the year? On the 27 April up to 1 million people take to the streets for the annual celebration of King’s Day (previously Queen’s Day, prior to the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander). It’s a unique time to visit Amsterdam as it becomes covered in a sea of orange with carnival floats (and boats!), parades, music, markets, street theatre and fireworks!! It’s a must see and a great time to sample all the delights of the city!

We jump on the bus and start our journey from Aarhus in the evening We watch some movies while going through Denmark and we sleep on the way to Amsterdam.

Day 2
Once you arrive in Amsterdam you can make your way to our hostel. It’s in the centre of the city and just a short walk from Central Station. Check in is from 2 pm however if you get there early you can store your bags with the friendly and helpful staff.
In the evening the group will meet with our tour leader who will be on hand throughout the tour should you have any queries - let the good times begin! Be prepared to be in the party mood as we hit the city ready to explore what the eclectic nightlife in Amsterdam has to offer – vibrant streets, restaurants, clubs, coffeeshops and the red light district.

Day 3
Feeling recharged after our Dutch breakfast buffet the group will meet again to explore the city – this time by day! And the best way to do this is with a walking tour led by an experienced and highly knowledgeable local guide who can unwrap the city’s unique history and culture. King’s Day has arrived!! You will be blown away by the vibrancy and energy of the Dutch on King’s Day – orange and the festival spirit is visible everywhere throughout the streets, canals, restaurants, coffeeshops, bars, boats – with free live stages, street parties and markets. It’s a day you won’t forget in a hurry – and wouldn’t want to! To blend in make sure to have orange clothes on hand and be ready for an adventure!

Day 4
After breakfast you will have few hours to buy some last souvenirs and around 10:00 we start driving back home to Aarhus. On the way we pass some cities of Germany like Bremen and Hamburg, where we can have short breaks for lunch and photostops in Hamburg`s known sites. We arrive to Aarhus before midnight.
