Finish Lapland is a unique destination to explore, especially in winter! It offers awesome adventures like dog-sledding and snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoe-hiking, ice-fishing and ultimately lake-side sauna and an arctic swim - a tradition, that shouldn’t be missed when visiting Finland! You will get the chance to take a sleigh ride with the reindeer and meet the Santa Claus and his little helpers in their village! We cross the Arctic Circle and stay 4 days in authentic wilderness resort, where we can use the skis and snowshoes every day, and enjoy sauna on all evenings! At night we go hunting for the Northern Lights!

On this tour we will be staying in motel or cottages, in shared rooms (2-8 beds). Most cabins will have basic cooking facilities (fridge, microwave, kitchen ware). Motel rooms have common kitchen with basic facilities. The rooming lists will be made all together on first day of the tour.
We will be travelling with tourist bus, and our journey will contain 2 overnight rides. The bus has A/C, TV and WC; there are couple plug sockets; wifi is not available on the bus

Tour Program: Lapland Fairy Tale

Day 1, Departure
We hop on the bus and head North. We will be driving during the night. On the bus, we get to know our travel mates, play games and watch some movies. We will also make regular stops for food.
Day 2, Lapland 
In the morning, we arrive in Lapland. We will spend the next days in a small village and wilderness resort in Lapland, north of the Arctic Circle. Upon arrival, we enjoy late breakfast all together and set up the schedule for the coming days (possible to sign up for safaris). Now it’s time to settle in and discover the surroundings! You can borrow winter overalls and boots, as well as use the snow-shoes, cross-country skis, and ice fishing kit.  All that is included!
In the evening we enjoy buffet dinner and then it's time for traditional Finnish sauna - a must-do thing once in Lapland!
Day 3, Lapland 
We spend the day doing activities: husky safaris and snowmobiles. The evening is again sauna time!
Day 4, Lapland 
Today we have a chance to visit the reindeer farm: we hear stories about reindeer herding and do the sledge ride. 
Later we get together in nearby Kota to have a cosy evening with bbq and hot wine. Sauna also available tonight.
Day 5, Lapland – Departure home
Morning is free for some skiing or snow-shoe walks. Around midday, we depart towards Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village. We meet Santa and take a photo all together. Later we have some free time in Rovaniemi. We recommend to visit famous Arktikum Museum to learn more about Arctic nature and Sami culture
In the evening we depart back. We drive during the night.
Day 6, Back home
Arrival back home in the morning.

Optional Activities: Lapland Fairy Tale

Optional Activities help you get the real taste of Lapland and make your trip fun and memorable! You can add the activities online in the booking system, as well as register on the spot. For some activities the number of places is limited, so we can only guarantee allotment for those who book the activities in advance.
Please note that Optional Activity are for extra cost. The payment is done on the spot, directly to the local organizers. You can pay in cash or by bank card. For some activities Scanbalt can ask small pre-payment in order to confirm your participation.
Activity takes place with minimum 10 participants. It is possible to cancel Optional Activities up to 14 days prior to departure. If you have booked the activity and decide not to participate when already in Lapland, you must still pay for your place, or find someone from the group who will do the activity instead of you. 

Optional Activities in Korvala

Snowmobile safari
After initial instruction, participants travel in pairs through the forest, each taking turns to drive the snowmobile. The route can be challenging and the speed will vary according to the conditions. The time spent driving the snowmobiles is approximately 1 hour in total (½ hr/person, if both drive). The distance driven in that time depends on the weather conditions and the skills of the participants, and may be altered for safety reasons, or due to poor weather conditions.
Duration approximately 1,5 hours in total including instruction and fitting of helmets, 2 persons/snowmobile
Price 70€/person (5 EUR booking fee to Scanbalt, rest of 65 EUR on the spot directly to organizer)., single driving supplement 35€/person.
Husky safari (drive your own sled)
On this safari you will see how much fun dog sledding is. We start by teaching you the necessary driving skills and then set off with our huskies through the forest and over the hills. Participants usually travel in pairs, each taking turns to drive the sled. The route can be challenging and the speed will vary according to weather conditions and the time of day.
Duration: approx 1 hour in total, including instruction (driving ca 5 km, ca 30 minutes). The route may be altered for safety reasons or due to poor weather conditions. 
Price: 70 EUR/per person (5 EUR booking fee to Scanbalt, rest of 65 EUR on the spot directly to organizer).
Reindeer safari
We ride in sleighs pulled by reindeer to our reindeer herding corral, where Poro-Hannu, a local reindeer herder, explains how these beautiful animals of the north are cared for throughout the year. We make tea and coffee on a campfire and have time to chat with Poro-Hannu about his work. 
Duration: approximately 1,5 hours in total, 65 EUR/per person. (5 EUR booking fee to Scanbalt, rest of 60 EUR on the spot directly to organizer).
Reindeer sled ride
We learn about how these arctic animals live and work, by going for a sled ride, two or three at a time, while Poro-Hannu, the reindeer herder, guides us on our way.
Duration: approximately 1,5 hours in total for the group.
